Day 23 : Home comforts

I’m going to start this blog post with a story, which in itself is a miracle, so I just had to share.  This year I have less work than the last two years, so I’ve had to start looking for my private classes if we want to travel as much as we did the last two years.  So…  Obviously God has a sense of humour and one of my evening classes has asked to do 2 hours, instead of 1… Literally double the cash monies!!! Thanks Jesus.

Okay, now to today’s other miracle…

I’m currently typing this out in bed, sipping on one of my favourite home comforts, rooibos tea, which I hated when I lived in South Africa.  Now I can’t get enough of it.  This is the time when I miss my family the most, during the quiet, down time of the day. But nowadays we have Skype, facetime, WhatsApp, email, Instagram, and obviously Facebook,  all to connect people from far away.  It’s amazing!! Granted I have never been a very Tech – savy person, that’s why I have Angelo, it’s really been a blessing to me.

Usually, when I’m feeling really homesick,  I will just Skype my mom while I fold washing, it’s like she is sitting in my living room. Today, I was listening to all my favourite songs on Spotify, easy.

On the other hand, as thankful as I am for the technology that we have, I really really love being far from it. Nature, no WiFi. The best.

So today’s miracle, is the miracle of technology AND the fact that we still have the opportunity to get away from it.

Maybe not a miracle, but not guaranteed either: Enjoying your mums virtual company.

Far too many parent/child relationships are ‘uncomfortable’.

My parents are gone now. Your mum is blessed to have you sharing time with her.
